It appears that the highly anticipated and smooth-looking Japanese role-playing game Natural Doctrine will see a release on western markets sometime soon.

Natural Doctrine was developed by renowned manga, anime and video game maker Kadokawa, and it launches in Japan on April 3 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita platforms from Sony.

The game will be published by Kadokawa itself in Japan, and international publishing will be handled by Nippon Ichi Software.

Natural Doctrine is based on a fantasy universe that revolves around a precious substance known as Pluton. Brave adventurers harvest the scarce Pluton from dangerous underground caverns, fighting off the dangerous beasts and evil monsters that stand between them and their loot.

Unfortunately, over time, the evils from down below have followed the adventurers to the surface of the world, and now their valor is all that the city of Feste relies on for protection.

The game focuses on tactical encounters, bearing a striking similarity to titles such as Final Fantasy Tactics, Advance Wars and Valkyria Chronicles.

Natural Doctrine will be available in both North America and Europe sometime during the fall of 2014, in both digital and physical editions for all three PlayStation platforms, with cross-play and cross-save support.
