Publisher Namco Bandai has announced that its latest title inspired by Masashi Kishimoto's manga Naruto, dubbed Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Full Burst, has shipped over 1.8 million units worldwide.

The game launched in March 2013 in North America and Europe, and in April in Japan, and to date it has surpassed the previous installment, Naruto Storm Generations, by more than half a million copies.

Developer CyberConnect2 is also planning to follow up with Naruto Storm Revolution, banking on the new found success of the series. No official release date has yet been made public, but the title is due out this year, as GearNuke reports.

The fighting game is available for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and it features 84 playable characters, making up the largest cast ever offered in the Ultimate Ninja series.

It features a variety of game modes and challenges, complete with boss battles that make use of quick time events and require certain strategies to be devised in order to successfully defeat the opponents.
