The development team working on the new NBA 2K15 says that Kevin Durant, who has just been named the Most Valuable Player of the regular season, will be the cover star for the title, which is expected to be launched during the fall of this year on a variety of platforms.

The athlete has been on the cover of the series before, in 2013, when he was featured alongside Derrick Rose and Blake Griffin, all of them seen as the big upcoming stars for professional basketball.

He was also associated with the rival franchise from EA Sports, set to appear on the cover of the unreleased NBA Elite 11, which was canceled because of concerns over the quality of the game experience.

During a press conference for NBA 2K15, Durant is quoted by Polygon as explaining that, “They didn't say anything. I begged them to put me on the cover because I really think nobody plays the game as much as I do. I really wanted to be a part of it, and I know I had to perform on the court to be in the running for it.”

The player is currently leading the Oklahoma City Thunder in its attempt to do well in the playoffs of the NBA.
