Patrice Desilets, the original creator of Assassin’s Creed, believes that digital distribution will generate the majority of sales during the lifetime of both the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony.

The developer says that he does not have a deadline for the digital revolution and he also believes that Microsoft had a good idea with its set of Internet-based feature for the Xbox One, even if the implementation was lacking.

He tells the Official Xbox Magazine that, “Some people still want the objects, and Microsoft will give that to them. But you and I, and more and more people all the time, won't buy the object.”

Desilets says that the music and the film industry are good models for how gaming could look as the next generation progresses, with less physical stores and more diverse content for players to choose from.
