NetherRealm Studios is apparently going to make some rather interesting reveals in relation to the freshly announced Mortal Kombat X during this year's edition of the E3 conference.

According to series creator Ed Boon, the studio is looking to reveal at least part of the roster of fighters at E3, including two brand-new characters.

He responded on his Twitter to a fan's query, asking if we'd see any new participants in the upcoming game, by tweeting a rather enthusiastic "Yes! Two of my new favorites will be at E3!"

Boon also promised that we would get a little more information on the game's plot, which is set to relate to Mortal Kombat 9's plot while at the same time also being entirely original, which sounds confusing, and Boon admitted it hard to explain.

Apart from the impressive trailer, which most likely wasn't showing actual gameplay footage, neither the development team at NetherRealm nor publisher Warner Bros hasn't revealed any concrete information regarding the combat system that will be used in the new fighting game.

Pre-orders for the game are now open on the Mortal Kombat X website, where we also get a closer look at a fearsome Scorpion, who is also featured on the box art, looking ready to do what he does best.

Mortal Kombat X was announced earlier this week and is due out sometime in 2015, coming to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC platforms.
