NetherRealm Studios, the famous video game maker responsible for the upcoming Mortal Kombat X, as well as the 2011 Mortal Kombat reboot and the 2013 superhero fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us, has released another kraken.

After building up hype and expectations over the course of a month, Mortal Kombat X has officially been announced, making gamers all around the world excited about the prospects of crushing virtual spines and cracking electronic skulls with a mastery that only Shaolin monks display during martial arts exhibitions.

Now, after watching the trailer over and over and wondering whether the Wiz Khalifa track means that Baraka, Kano and the rest of the nasty fighters will start sagging their pants, gamers have a means to channel all the excitement: Mortal Kombat X pre-orders are now officially open.

The Mortal Kombat X pre-order page greets you with a handsome and gleeful close-up of Scorpion – joking, of course, it's a haunting image of his dead eyes staring through your soul.

The page lists several retailers through which to place pre-orders and also reveals the box art, featuring Scorpion getting ready to start a combo with his chain snake spear thingy, the undead ninja spectre's most iconic move.

Mortal Kombat X is coming to the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PC platforms, sometime during 2015 (June 30 if we are to believe Amazon's Mortal Kombat X listing).
