Monster Hunter 4 will no longer use the water-based levels introduced by Capcom in the most recent installment of the game, but the development team working on it has plans to extend the mechanics in order to give gamers more options when approaching fights.

Japanese magazine Famitsu confirmed that water was eliminated from the game but the reason was not given.

Monsters will now be better able to use the terrain to their own advantage and players are able to use heights in order to perform leaping attacks.

There’s also an option to grab onto enemies, in a feature similar to that seen in Dragon’s Dogma.

Moreover, gamers will enjoy more non-player characters to interact with and there will be a larger selection of weapons and armor for the player to wear and tweak.

Monster Hunter 4 will be launched in Japan in spring 2013, with no clear date for the West.
