Minecraft for the Xbox 360 is a huge success as Microsoft and 4J Studios have confirmed that over 8 million copies of the game have been sold worldwide, both via the Xbox Live Marketplace and via retail stores, thanks to the recently released physical editions of the game.

Minecraft amazed millions of PC owners and its Xbox 360 edition attained almost the same level of popularity, as console owners were eager to create their own worlds in the impressive game.

Now, ahead of Title Update 12 launch, Microsoft and 4J have revealed that over 8 million units have been sold worldwide.

In order to celebrate this great accomplishment, the two companies revealed on Play XBLA that a special live stream of Minecraft on Xbox 360 Title Update 12 will take place today, August 12, between 11am PST to 12pm, and from 3pm PST to 4pm PST on the official Twitch channel.
