Minecraft on the PC has reached a brand new milestone as the creator of the hit indie game, Markus "Notch" Persson, has confirmed that over 12 million copies of the game had been sold across the Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms.

Minecraft become a worldwide phenomenon even before it went out of alpha stage, as the pixelated world-creation simulator captured the hearts and minds of many people from around the world.

After appearing on all sorts of other platforms, including mobile devices or even home consoles, like the Xbox 360, the game is still the most successful on the PC, as apparently 12 million copies of the game have been sold worldwide across the PC, Mac, and Linux platforms, according to the Twitter of Persson.

Considering that Minecraft is set to debut on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 next-gen consoles later this year, the profits of Persson and his studio, Mojang, will get even bigger.
