Developer Mojang reveals yet more amazing sales figures for the worldwide block stacking phenomenon that is Minecraft, this time also coming with some surprising news: the console versions of the game managed to surpass the PC and Mac figures.

Combined sales of Minecraft on all available platforms have now almost reached 54 million, a considerable bump since the close to 50 million units sold that were announced a few months back.

In addition to the news regarding the solid sales figure, Mojang data analyst Patrick Geuder also says that sales of the console editions of the pixelated survival sandbox game have now overtaken the total sales registered with the PC and Mac versions.

He hasn't offered any breakdown of the sales on each platform, but the latest data from the company informed that the PC version had topped 15 million units sold, while the Xbox 360 edition had successfully tackled the 12 million milestone.

In addition to this, the mobile version of Minecraft had also registered over 21 million sales by April this year.

Minecraft is still showing some serious drive, and the sales numbers are bound to grow soon, when the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita editions of the game are released.
