The development team at Monolith Productions and publishers Warner Bros. are ready to deliver the first official look at the gameplay of Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, using an 8-minute-long video that includes plenty of combat and exploration.

All the footage is taken from a pre-alpha version of the game and the studio is promising that even as gamers see it, improvements have already been made to the experience.

The game will star a ranger who has Wraith-like capabilities and it takes place between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

The core mechanics will be that of an open world game, with a number of side quests that the player can undertake to level up his character before tackling powerful bosses.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor will be launched on the Xbox One from Microsoft, the PlayStation 4 from Sony, the PC and current-gen consoles at some point in late 2014.
