Chris Charla, the leader of the ID@Xbox program at Microsoft, says that the Minecraft launch on the coming Xbox One console will allow the company to sell more devices because it broadens its customer base.

The executive tells MCV that, "Independent developers are hugely important for the entire industry ecosystem. I am massively excited by titles such as Titanfall and Halo. But I am equally excited when I see games like Papers Please, or Gone Home."

Charla believes that one of the most important elements of the Xbox One launch will be its support for varied experiences.

Initially, Microsoft failed to garner much enthusiasm among indie developers, who believed that they would have to deal with the same policies as for the current 360.

Since then, the company has revealed an ambitious support program and the fact that the Xbox One can be used as a development platform.

The device will be launched on November 22 on 13 major markets.
