There are other features of the device that are more important

Microsoft says that on launch day, the new Xbox One will not allow gamers to find their friends using real-world names and Gamertags will continue to be the basis for the Xbox Live service for some time.

A representative from the company tells Kotaku that, "While real identities continue to be part of our plans for the experience on Xbox One, at launch, customers will continue to search for friends using their Gamertags."

It seems that the teams working on the next-gen console need to devote their resources to more pressing matters and it's unclear when real names will be introduced.

The feature might not become attractive to players, who have become accustomed to hide their real identities on the current generation of consoles.

The PlayStation 4 from Sony will give users the option of using real identification, but we do not yet know whether it will be offered on launch.
