The development team working on the Xbox One at Microsoft says that the next-gen consoles will be able to download content remotely in order to make sure that players can access new purchases as soon as they power it up.

Marc Whitten, the leader of the team preparing the device for launch, writes on Twitter that "Yes! Of course you can download while you are away. #xboxone - Always up to date, always your console. The beauty of low power mode!"

Gamers will be able to use the newly announced feature by accessing the Xbox Games website, the web interface, or the SmartGlass app.

The PlayStation 4 also allows gamers to use a smartphone to buy new content and then automatically power up the console to download it.

The two devices are expected to be launched in November, with the PS4 set to arrive on the 15th in North America and two weeks later in Europe and the Xbox One lacking a clear date.
