Microsoft has confirmed that the recently rolled out Xbox Live beta preview, which changes the payment options from MS Points to real-world money, resulted in a slight increase in prices across the Marketplace due to an error, so refunds will soon be issued.

Microsoft has announced that it's organizing a special Xbox Live beta preview and has begun welcoming those who registered their interest in the program earlier this week.

Sadly, despite finally changing the old MS Points system with a new mechanic that uses real-world currency, the beta actually increased prices instead of maintaining a parity.

This was due to an error, according to a Microsoft employee who talked with Joystiq.

There will be refunds issued to those who bought items with the higher prices, so beta participants should expect money to appear in their Xbox Live accounts.
