The development team that created the Xbox One home console at Microsoft has showed some of the prototypes that it made for the device before settling on its current form.

Carl Ledbetter, the creative director of the team, is quoted by Polygon as telling the Worldwide Partner Conference 2013 that, “We wanted to make it simple and elegant, and we wanted it to be crafted and tailored, so it’s all about quality. Using those principles, we started to design.”

Initially, sketches were used to test out ideas and Microsoft then created actual hardware and set it in a simulated living room in order to see how it would fit in the space.

It seems that 200 design options were considered for the Xbox One before the final version was chosen and shown to the public.

The device is set to launch in November.
