Video game publisher and hardware maker Microsoft announces that it is attending this year’s edition of the Tokyo Games Show in order to promote the coming launch of the Xbox One home console.

In 2012, the company claimed that it would not appear in Japan and at gamescom, the European event, in order to focus on smaller promotional efforts.

This year, Microsoft will have a presence at TGS, which will probably serve as the venue to reveal both the actual Japanese launch date for the Xbox One and its price, says Gematsu.

It’s unclear how much the new console will matter in terms of sales in the country, given that the Xbox 360 has only managed to move a little over 1.6 million.

Sony managed to reach more than 9.3 million for the PlayStation 3 and the PS4 is also likely to dominate the Xbox One.
