The team at Microsoft working on the launch of the Xbox One suggests that the much loved Project Gotham Racing will not be part of the line-up of titles for the new hardware because the genre is already filled with quality experiences.

Phil Spencer, an executive at the company, is quoted by VG247 as saying that, “I don’t think we would ever have three console racing franchises. That seems like a lot for a first-party, with Forza Horizon and Forza Motorsport.”

He also suggested that some of the features that made Project Gotham Racing popular are at the moment part of more mainstream franchises, like the new Need for Speed: Rivals from Electronic Arts.

The Xbox One will be offered on November 22 in 13 core countries and Forza Motorsport 5 is one of the launch titles for the Microsoft platform, designed to show off the power of the new hardware and integrate a series of cloud-based features.
