Steve Ballmer, the chief executive officer of Microsoft, is apparently seeking to secure more movie and television content deals for the coming Xbox One home console.

The leader of the company is reported to have travelled to Hollywood in order to meet with the boss of CBS, the leader of Sony TV and other executives, according to Deadline.

He apparently assured them all that the Xbox One will not aim to become another cable channel and that the device will be an important platform for future television lovers.

Microsoft will use the new entertainment focus of the home console to add a new layer of information to sports programming, as already shown with NFL, and to music, reality and scripted programs.

The company has already promised that, during its E3 2013 press conference, it will focus on the game line-up for the Xbox One.
