The new console will compete directly with the PlayStation 4

The team at Microsoft working on the new Xbox One home console says that the European market is crucial for the overall success of the device.

Phil Spencer, an executive at the company, tells The Official Xbox Magazine that, "There are markets in Europe where we need to do better, and our lead there in bringing on Phil Harrison is how do we bring on a senior executive who can look across all parts of our business with a background of creating success in Europe and give him that charter."

For the current console generation the Xbox 360 has dominated the North American market but Sony has created a strong lead in Europe.

The new Xbox One at the moment has a number of exclusive partnerships for content on the North American market, including a huge one linked to the National Football League.
