The company is making sure that no one else can abuse it

Microsoft is apparently getting the rights to the Xbone.com domain name, which many gamers associate with the upcoming Xbox One home console.

IGN reports that the company is not using the Xbone domain for anything at the moment, but presumably, it will be used to point to the official site for the next-gen design.

Xbone is a popular name on the Internet for the new platform and Larry Hryb, aka Major Nelson, the community manager at Microsoft, has recently described it as disrespectful.

Big companies tend to secure all web domains that can be associated with their products in order to make sure that third parties do not abuse them.

Microsoft will launch the Xbox One on 13 major markets on November 22 of this year and all other countries will get access to the device in early 2014.
