The development team led by Hideo Kojima and publisher Konami are using E3 2015 to deliver a new trailer for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which offers a five-minute-long look at the coming title.

The core themes of the footage are language, identity and the ways humans will behave when they have been stripped of everything that makes them what they are.

The video has been created under the direct supervision of Hideo Kojima and is designed to offer a clear look at the essence of the coming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

A quote from Romanian philosopher Emil Cioran is shown at the start, and after that things tend to get even weirder.

The new Kojima video game is the first one in the series which will use a full open world structure, allowing gamers to explore Afghanistan at their will and deal with a variety of missions using either stealth or force.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be out on September 1 and gamers can play it on the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and older home consoles, while those who like the PC will have to wait another two weeks.
