A brand new rumor has started online about the release date of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, as apparently a slip-up caused a March 17 launch date to be pinned onto the game during an interview with creator Hideo Kojima.
The Metal Gear Solid 5 project is a big one for both developer Kojima Productions and for publisher Konami, as not only does it introduce new things, but it also uses a brand new technology in the form of the Fox Engine.
After launching a small prologue called Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes onto the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, Kojima and Konami are getting ready to debut Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, a full-fledged installment in the series.
During an interview with The Guardian, Hideo Kojima talked about the game and, right at the end, the article mentioned a March 17 release date for the new title.
According to Reddit, the article was quickly edited to mention a 2015 launch for The Phantom Pain.
It's unclear if the original date was correct, but it does match up previous reports about an early 2015 debut for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.
As of yet, Konami hasn't commented.
