Video game developer and publisher Capcom is announcing that it is working on a new Mega Man Legacy Collection, which is set to be launched on the PC, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 later in the summer, comprised of six original core titles linked to the franchise.

Those who own a 3DS handheld can also get access to the same content in the winter of this year.

The Mega Man Legacy Collection will be offering six games players have always loved and they will also get access to special challenges and to history associated with the series.

The new package will include access to leaderboards, with the top performance uploaded so that everyone can see how it was done, and to replays.

Capcom adds that a special database will also be included to give players details about enemies and then offer them a chance to practice taking them down.

Frank Cifaldi, head of restoration for Digital Eclipse, states, "We’re living in the golden age of a brand new form of artistic expression, and we’re not doing a very good job of making sure our games will be available five years from now, let alone fifty. The more we can do right now to take video game preservation seriously, the safer our history will be."

At the moment, Capcom does not have clear plans for a Mega Man sequel.
