Developer Piranha Games and publisher Infinite Game Publishing have released a new video for MechWarrior Online showing how the various terrains included in the upcoming free-to-play online game will affect the actual gameplay.

The environment shown in the video is filled with caustic heat and noxious fumes and the various mech forces that need to explore it will have to deal with high temperatures, making it harder for those who use heat-based weaponry.

In order to compensate, gamers will have to focus on ballistic options, which allow long-range engagements and give off less heat.

MechWarrior Online will use the third version of the CryEngine and will be launched before the end of the year, giving gamers the option to play for free or subscribe and get extra in-game options.

Gamers will be able to choose a mech profile and then completely customize it before choosing to fight for the various factions in the game world.
