It's hard to pick the squad mates that join you on missions

Mass Effect 3 delivers a sprawling story with a controversial ending, that sees the protagonist, Commander Shepard, interact with a wide array of characters, from squad mates to friends or enemies.

Without a doubt the strongest relationships are the ones you forge with your comrades aboard the Normandy space ship, as you not only talk to them while on the ship but also during missions, as they accompany you in most of your adventures.

This is where a pretty big problem appears, since you must choose only two squad mates on each mission.

While this choice should be made in a strategic way, for you need to consider the type of enemy you’re facing and what powers should complement your own, things aren’t that simple in-game.

Most of the times, I want the most interesting characters to help me during a mission, who can provide more pieces of information while we’re killing our enemies. As such, Liara is an almost permanent squad mate, and so is EDI.

I also choose my squad mates depending on their actual feedback and their hilarious comments. As such, Javik is also a recurring squad mate for me, as his insight can always bring a smile to my face (tip: bring him with you on your visit to Thessia - his reactions to the Asari are wonderful).

I sometimes use other characters, just to hear what they have to say in certain situations, but I’m definitely looking forward to another playthrough of the single-player campaign at a later point in time (perhaps once more DLC will be released) in order to try more of them out.

While you don’t have that many characters during the campaign of Mass Effect 3, as opposed to the second title, I was more than happy with the selection of squad mates.

What about you? Did you want more characters to help you on your missions?
