The development team at Nintendo working on Mario Kart 8 is delivering a new trailer for the arcade racing title which shows off two new stages that players will be able to compete and some innovative game mechanics.

The classic structure of the title is not changed in any major way and players will continue to be able to select from a wide range of Nintendo characters.

The airport stage looks very impressive, especially when karts turn into gliders and seem to be on a direct collision course with airplanes.

The footage also suggests that the way items are used will be changed slightly.

Mario Kart 8 will be launched exclusively on the Wii U home console in the spring of 2014 and Nintendo is hoping that it will offer a much-needed sales boost for the device.
