Gamers will not gain advantages via repeated play of one area

CCP has offered some more information on the map design for the upcoming Dust 514 shooter, warning players that memorizing the layout of a map during a match is not a valid long term tactic because aspects of it will change every time it is accessed.

The official blog posts states, “All this translates into the very real possibility that if a player thinks he knows the battlefield simply because he fought there before, he might find that nice open short cut from the last battle now filled with enemy weapons, EW platforms and communication disruptors centered on an enemy Command Node.”

It adds, “A deadly trap just waiting for him and others who think they know the map. In fact, it might not even be from the last battle… an enemy commander can deploy an installation into position within minutes during a battle.”

The various battlefield decisions that gamers make, including using destructive weaponry, can also affect the layout of the battlefield, and it seems that interaction with EVE Online might also lead to variations.

Dust 514 is set to launch this year.
