The team at Paradox Interactive working on the Magicka series announces that a full sequel is at the moment set to be launched on the PlayStation 4 from Sony and on the PC, with a set of enhanced gameplay mechanics designed to appeal to long-term fans and newcomers.

The developers state, “Magicka 2 will bring the iconic spellcasting system, irreverent humor, and relationship-testing friendly fire into an all-new adventure with up to 4-player co-op. Featuring a story-driven campaign mode, new co-op gameplay features, and plenty of surprises, Magicka 2 will have players casting and blasting together on computers and consoles alike.”

The reveal trailer was first shown during the E3 press conference of Sony and that game is apparently specifically designed to use the new power and the unique features of the PlayStation 4 home console.

The two companies are apparently working on a wider collaboration at the moment and more titles will be revealed soon from other internal teams.

Runemaster seems like a potential candidate for a PlayStation 4 launch and it will be interesting to see whether Paradox aims to move one of its grand strategy titles to the Sony platform.

Magicka 2 does not yet have an official launch window.
