The game engine had the Broncos as the winners of the game

The Seattle Seahawks have managed to defeat the Denver Broncos 43 to 8 in the real-world Super Bowl XLVIII, showing the limits of the simulation engine included in Madden NFL 25 from EA Sports.

The video game predicted that the Broncos, led by Peyton Manning, would get the victory after a very tight match, 31 to 28 after extra time.

EA Sports claimed that its simulation was run using the core match engine on the Xbox One, using updated rosters and player stats for both teams.

The Madden NFL series had managed to predict 8 of the 10 previous winners of the Super Bowl.

The surprising Seahawk victory and the under par performance of Peyton Manning show that even the best video game simulations cannot replicate the complexity of the real-world matches.

A new Madden NFL title will be launched in late summer on the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and current-gen consoles.
