Publisher Square Enix has announced the release date for the upcoming strategic hack-and-slash game made by City Interactive and Deck13, coming to next-gen platforms on October 31.

The decision to release the touted Dark Souls killer in the busiest month of the year places the title right next to the likes of Sunset Overdrive, Assassin's Creed: Unity and WWE 2K15, all of which are coming out within the same week.

Lords of the Fallen places you in the role of Harkyn, a hardened criminal, given a chance to redeem himself when the army of a god defeated a long time ago assaults the human realm. Harkyn and his mentor Kaslo embark on a perilous mission to stop the war and rid the world of all evil influence, an unforgiving struggle to maintain humankind's independence.

In the upcoming game, players are not bound in any way by class, the character progression system offering a very organic and free-flowing experience and allowing gamers to build the character in a way that best suits their own preferred play style.

Lords of the Fallen is scheduled to come out on October 31, going for £30 / $50 / $38 on PC, and £50 / $85 / €63 on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 next-gen computer entertainment systems.
