Parisian studio Dontnod Entertainment, makers of Remember Me, together with publisher Square Enix, has announced that an upcoming episodic adventure game titled Life is Strange is in the works.

The adventure video game will follow two lead characters that are trying to solve a mysterious disappearance, set in the fictional town of Arcadia Bay, Oregon, where a student named max Caulfield and her friend Chloe embark on a quest to find out what happened to their fellow student Rachel Amber.

Dontnod Chief Executive Officer Oskar Guilbert has called the project "a twist on traditional story-driven games," revealing that one of the protagonists, Max, discovers that she can rewind time, an ability that can be used to change the player's story, with choice and consequence playing a key role in how the narrative unfurls.

"Everybody at Dontnod is excited to be working on such a refreshing title. We're not only crafting the best game we possibly can, we also feel we're providing the type of experience that perfectly fits today's renewed taste for originality and diversity," Jean-Max Moris, the studio's creative director, has said regarding the upcoming title.

Life is Strange is currently in development for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC platforms, and publisher Square Enix has not provided any information related to a prospective release window for the title.
