Eiji Aonuma, the current producer working on The Legend of Zelda series at Nintendo, says that the upcoming A Link to the Past 2 will include sections that take place in the Dark World of the game universe.

The area has only been explored before in the original Link to the Past and in Four Swords Adventures, according to CNET.

The developer has not said whether his team is producing all-new areas for players to explore or whether the content from the original game is being updated for the new release.

Aonuma has also emphasized the fact that the three-dimensional capabilities of the Nintendo 3DS handheld are very important for A Link to the Past 2 and those who fail to use them will get a crippled game experience.

The new Zelda title is expected to launch in the fall and currently lacks an official name in English.
