Video game developer Riot Games and American Express announce that they are working together to create prepaid debit cards linked to the Multiplayer Online Battle Arena title League of Legends.

The cards are designed to come complete with Riot Points incentives for hardcore fans and to make it easier to acquire the content that the game had hidden behind a paywall.

Dustin Beck, the vice president of eSports at Riot Games, is quoted by Gamasutra as saying that, “There is a great opportunity for brands here, particularly brands that make sense for our players becoming harder to reach on TV and other mediums.”

Those who get a League of Legends debit card will receive 1,000 points to spend in the game and for each 20 dollars (16.5 Euro), they will get the same amount.

Recently, Riot Games has revealed another first when a player from Canada was able to secure a United States visa as a professional athlete.
