The development team at Riot Games says that it is interested in expanding the appeal of its MOBA League of Legends in the eSport arena by using a number of ideas taken from the real world of competition.

Dustin Beck, a vice president at the company, tells Edge that, “We looked at the more traditional sports like baseball, football, basketball, soccer. And a big thing that we’d never seen done before is an all-star game.”

Riot also wants to increase the overall quality of the broadcast and has hired people who have experience transmitting the Olympics and a head of global content who won three Emmy awards.

The fans will also soon be able to get more background of the various superstar League of Legends players.

League of Legends is a free-to-play Multiplayer Online Battle Arena title available only on the PC.
