The game is doing away with distracting critters

Developer Riot Games has introduced a new quality of life option in its insanely popular multiplayer online battle arena game League of Legends, allowing players to turn off eye candy in order to gain a clearer view of the board.

The news comes from the LoL forums, where Riot JxE writes that the change is due to some of the game's more competitive players requesting an option to hide some of the superfluous movement on the map, in order to allow them to focus on what they like best, the gameplay.

The change, coming in the form of a "Hide Eye Candy" option in the Game tab in the menu, will disable stuff like butterflies, dragonflies, and water wakes, in order to make things a little less cluttered for competitive gamers.

The change will be implemented in the next Public Beta Environment update, and the company is looking forward to receiving valuable feedback regarding the option, including anything the devs might have missed.

While it's a little farfetched to blame your loss on being distracted by the beauty of mother nature, this change has most likely been requested by a lot of people, if Riot got down to implementing it. Anything to make people own up to their mistakes instead of blaming it on the poor butterflies is welcome, anyway.
