Mode will be available until January 2, with more of these experiments to come

Showdown is a dream come true for all the people that used to shout “1v1 after this kkk?”, a dueling mode that allows for 1v1 and 2v2 matches on Howling Abyss, LoL's popular all random all middle map.

Opposing teams have three ways to win a Showdown, by scoring first blood or two kills in 2v2, first to clear 100 creeps or taking down the enemy's tower before theirs crumbles to dust.

Showdown is an interesting idea allowing for more flexibility, built in the vein of the completely bonkers One for All mode that made the whole team play with the same champion, an experimental mode designed for a less competitive experience, or at least a different one anyway.

A few months ago, Riot technical game designer Richard Hough stated that “cycling new modes in and out will allow us to keep these things fresh and focused from a gameplay perspective,” as reported by PCGamesN.

Showdown will be available until January 2, so you'd better hurry if you want to show the world how well you can carry a one-man team.
