The first single from Pentakill's upcoming album has just been made available on the Internet, ahead of the full release of "Smite and Ignite," taking place on June 3.

Don't you know what Pentakill is? Why, nothing short but a sweet metal band that's putting out an entire album inspired by Riot Games' multiplayer online battle arena game League of Legends.

Seeing metal music in video games is rare now, when even Blizzard gave up on it, as evidenced by the Deadmau5 Easter egg in Diablo 3. That makes Riot Games' initiative even more exciting, especially taking into account the fact that the track sounds as legit as it gets.

Pentakill is a passion project from musicians both within Riot Games and outside the developer, and the entire 8 songs on the album will become available as a free download on June 3, on the Pentakill website.

The option to purchase the album will also be available to those who wish to do so, through various digital music retailers, keeping in tone with the free-to-play business model adopted by Riot Games.

The song is titled "Lightbringer," and it has already gathered over 1.5 million views in little more than a day, in no small part due to the fact that it features double bass, powerful guitar lines and an astounding vocal performance that some people claim is done by Jorn Lande, a famous power metal singer.

It looks like Elite Tauren Chieftan has just gotten some stiff competition.
