David Goldfarb, who has worked at Swedish developer DICE as leading designer on both Battlefield 3 and on Bad Company 2, announced that he has moved to Starbreeze Studios, where he will occupy the position of game director.

He stated, “I’ve worked on these huge games, and that was great, but I really wanted to work on smaller, tighter, and more intimate projects that are more gameplay driven, and I saw the opportunity to do that here. I talked to a lot of places but I felt the best fit for me was Starbreeze and Overkill because they have a really interesting history and a lot of games I really like.”

Goldfarb will work on Payday 2, which is being developed by Overkill, and Starbreeze is also working on a yet undisclosed intellectual property.

The designer’s experience means that the new game will probably use a first-person shooter structure, although the theme is not yet clear.
