Neil Druckmann, the creative director of The Last of Us, admits that the ending of the game caused controversy not just among players but also inside the development team at Naughty Dog.

During a Reddit-based Ask Me Anything session, the developer stated, “Once it was more fleshed out, it became an easier sell. We went through about three or four ideas before finding the ending that worked best for the story we wanted to tell.”

During the same discussion, the game creator suggested that a sequel was in the initial stages of development, focused once more on Ellie and Joel.

Until it gets any official details, fans of The Last of Us will have to wait for the launch of three downloadable content packs.

Information on the first of them will be offered later in August.
