La Mulana 2 has successfully met its initial Kickstarter goal, and although its stretch goals are not likely to be achieved, at least the indie sidescroller will see the light of day on PC.

La Mulana 2 is a sequel to the punishingly difficult 2D adventure platformer La Mulana, a game that has been widely acclaimed as being a high-quality Metroid-inspired title, developed by Japanese games studio Nigoro.

The development team stated their goal to evolve 2D action adventure games, a genre that has seen less and less popularity since 3D became possible.

La Mulana was designed as a tribute to the 8-bit games the developers grew up with, and now they will be able to successfully live out their dream of delivering a sequel with even more secrets and challenging gameplay.

The team showed a demo of La Mulana 2 back in September, at Tokyo Game Show 2013, and has recently shared it for their backers over on Playism's website, where the team is also accepting Paypal pledges for La Mulana 2.
