Electronic Arts recently claimed that FIFA 12 was outselling PES 2012 by 25 to 1 in the United Kingdom but at least one Konami man believes that there's something wrong with the numbers used by the publisher.

Jon Murphy, who is the leader of the Pro Evolution Soccer team, told Eurogamer that, “I think right now, there’s been a fair bit of manipulation of statistics to suit people. When you say ‘on the back foot’, I totally disagree. We’re now on the front foot in terms of quality of product and in terms of innovation. We believe sales will follow.”

The developer says that Konami has no plans to change the launch date for PES next year in order to avoid FIFA and says that the development team plans to create ever more solid football experiences in order to satisfy fans, most of which are located in Japan and Europe.

A few years ago fans considered the PES series to be better than FIFA but the releases for 11 and 12 changed that perception.
