The development team at Rare and publisher Microsoft are launching an entirely new developer diary for the upcoming Kinect Sports Rivals, which asks gamers to use the coming title to unleash their inner competitor and battle with friends for first place in the included activities.

The footage features a number of the people working on the title talking about their own competitive nature and offers insight into the core elements of the experience, including the way Kinect will be used to create a virtual representation of the player.

There are also more details about the events included in Kinect Sports Rivals, which will allow gamers to engage in tennis, water-based sports, rock climbing, shooting and more.

The team at Rare has promised a game that makes full use of the Kinect motion tracking system and allows gamers to see exactly what it can do.

Kinect Sports Rivals will be launched on April 8 in North America and three days later in Europe and will only be offered on the new Xbox One from Microsoft.

Recently, the team at Rare has explained that some core gamers might be uninterested in the Kinect peripheral, but that it will become more important as the new platform matures.
