Tripwire Interactive announced the release of Killing Floor: Calamity, a top-down shooter title exclusive to the OUYA microconsole.

Developed by Toadman Interactive, Killing Floor: Calamity is an arcade shooter reboot of the original PC first-person shooter Killing Floor.

The game takes place in a devastated England, following a series of cloning experiments gone awry. Players take the role of a member of the military, dropped into the hot zones and tasked with cleansing them of all the failed experiments.

Killing Floor: Calamity supports 2 player co-op on the same screen, offers 21 playable characters from the PC version, 7 upgradable perks, 9 new maps specifically design for top-down shooter madness and 35 unique weapons to blow the experiments to bits with.

The game supports both OUYA and PlayStation 3 controllers.

“We feel OUYA is leading the charge in disrupting the way in which games are both created and consumed today and, as our history suggests with our successes with both Red Orchestra and Killing Floor, we’re not shy about embracing early, new digital distribution models,” said Alan Wilson, vice president of Tripwire Interactive.
