Microsoft has shed some light on its upcoming Killer Instinct fighting game, confirming that the base title, with just one playable fighter in the form of Jago, will be available, while other characters are going to be released as DLC.

Killer Instinct is the reboot of Rare's famous fighting game from the 1990s and aims at delivering an Xbox One exclusive experience this November, alongside the next-gen console.

After hearing a few rumors about the title, Killer Instinct has now been confirmed as a free-to-play game by Microsoft's Torin Rettig, who talked with Polygon.

According to him, the base free edition includes only Jago, and players who want to control other characters will have to pay either for each of them or for different bundles and packs.

This method allows players to pay for thewhat characters they actually want, according to Microsoft. AI-controlled opponents, however, don't have to be bought and will be included in the base free edition of the game.
