Kerbal Space Program is doing some genetic manipulation experiments, aiming to get some critters with different chromosomes up in space: lady astronauts.

For the time being, the exact day when female astronauts will become available in the game is not known, and all we have is a teaser on the Kerbal blog, showing us Valentina Kerman on a break from her usual astronauty stuff.

A small step for kerbalkind, but a giant leap for social justice. The game is currently available on Steam Early Access, having just reached the beta stage of development in December last year.

It is one of the most successful games in the program, and it has managed to grab the attention of people from all over the world, even NASA.

Its basic premise is simple. You get a handful of green versions of the Minions from "Despicable Me" and you have to help them build a space program.

It’s fun, much more educational than your average physics class, and pretty much everything you build explodes.

The fact that it also has a very active modding community only adds to Kerbal Space Program’s ever-expanding list of features.

The addition of female astronauts is just one of the many improvements indie developer Squad is working on right now, and we’ll come back with the news as soon as it drops.
