Video game creator Hideo Kojima announces that the voice of Solid Snake for the coming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be provided by Keifer Sutherland, the actor best known for his role in the long-running TV series 24.

The announcement was made during an official presentation from Konami and the actor was cited as saying, "I’m not a gamer and I even knew about this game. I was certainly aware of the legacy of these games, and the unbelievable success of these games."

Kojima says that he chose Keifer Sutherland because he is a good fit for Snake's character and close to his age in the coming Phantom Pain.

The story is set to take place in 1984, when Snake is a little over 49.

Keifer Sutherland has also done motion capture for Metal Gear Solid V.
