The PlayStation Vita continues to perform better than expected

The 3DS handheld and Pokemon X & Y, the biggest hit of 2013 for the platform, are the best performing products of the first week of this year in Japan.

According to NeoGAF data, the Nintendo-made device saw a slight dip in overall sales in order to reach 187,920 units sold down from 208,893, while second place was captured by the PlayStation Vita from Sony, which saw its own figures rise to reach 88,169.

The Wii U is now in third place and has posted a drop, reaching 60,548, while the PlayStation 3 is in fourth.

Pokemon X & Y managed to sell 152,888 copies for the week ending on January 5 and the rest of the top ten includes:
