The PlayStation Vita has managed to more than double its sales on the core Japanese market for the week that ended on June 30 thanks to the launch of Toukiden, a new video game from Koei Tecmo.

The leader of the hardware pack is still the Nintendo 3DS, which has seen its own numbers increase to a little over 50,000 coming from 43,269, which is still lower than what the device managed in 2012.

The PlayStation Vita has reached 31,271 and might see an even bigger increase in the next seven days, according to NeoGAF.

The best placed of the current-gen home consoles is the PlayStation 3 from Sony, which, at 12,554, performs better than the newer Wii U from Nintendo.

Gundam Breaker, a PlayStation 3 game, is the best-selling title of the week, managing to move a little more than 200,000 copies as a new launch, while second place goes to Toukiden, with sales of 122,794.

The last place on the podium belongs to yet another new entry, Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl.

The rest of the top ten includes: Toukiden for the PSP, Atelier Escha & Logy: The Alchemist of Empty Twilight, Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode, Friend Collection: New Life, The Last of Us, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D and Date A Live: Rine Utopia.
