The video game hardware chart in Japan continues to be dominated by the 3DS handheld from Nintendo, which spends another week at number one with overall sales of 25,440 units, a decline of close to 15,000 when compared to the previously tracked period.

For the week of May 12, data from Media Create quoted by NeoGAF shows that the rival PlayStation Vita handheld from Sony has also performed pretty well and has only lost about 4,000 in sales to post a total of 13,699.

The PlayStation 4 has suffered a big blow to its own numbers and has been forced to cede the last place on the podium to the older PS3, which has delivered a little over 7,000 devices to its fans.

The next-gen device has managed to sell just 6,887 consoles in one week, which is barely above the level of the Wii U, which at 6,836 is considered to be a failure.

The bestselling video game for the same period is The Idolmaster: One for All for the PlayStation 3 from Bandai Namco, which has managed to deliver 80,692 copies to gamers.

The rest of the top ten includes: Genkai Totsuki Moero Chronicle, Yo-kai Watch, Gekijouban Macross F: 30th d Shudisuta b Box - Hybrid Pack, Mario Golf: World Tour, Mario Party: Island Tour, Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call, Wii Party U and New Super Mario Bros. U.
